DavePops is a lot of things (impossibly creamy, vegan, delicious), but one thing we’re not is just another non-dairy ice cream. And what sets us apart is our one-of-a-kind duBlé process.

Instead of cramming tons of extra stuff into plant-based ingredients to get our ice cream to act like ice cream, we created a process to optimize the existing structure of plants, using all the fiber, vitamins and minerals that are routinely filtered away from traditional vegan ice cream. Through this duBlé process, we can achieve a rich, creamy texture using whole foods with less sugar and is not dependent on fat for creaminess and texture.

The result is a more nutritious, less processed, totally delicious, and impossibly creamy DavePop.

WHAT’S IN A NAME

The name duBlé is a combination of the words “double” and “sorbet.” We based the name of the process itself, which require our plant-based ingredients to be blended and frozen twice.

IT TAKES A WHOLE LOTTA LOVE, BRAINS, AND BRAWN TO CREATE A WHOLE NEW PLANT-BASED ICE CREAM. OH, AND SOME SCIENCE TOO.

Plant proteins don’t act like dairy and egg proteins in making ice cream. As a result, ingredient lists for vegan ice creams are usually very long and complicated because they need to add more and more ingredients to make plants act and taste like dairy. Please check out this scientific article.

But DavePops doesn’t need to add all those ingredients because we don’t use traditional ice cream equipment. Instead of trying to make plants act like dairy, we made new machines that take advantage of the already great properties of plants. This results in a much simpler and more understandable ingredient list.

Instead of using traditional “scrape surface heat exchangers,” which redistribute the molecules as they are being frozen, our machines redistribute the molecules after they are frozen. This seemingly small difference changes everything.

That’s why we say that DavePops are “impossibly creamy” because it’s impossible to make creamy ice cream using the simple ingredients we use unless you rethink the processes, machines, and ingredients entirely.
